Episode 001 — The Beginning of Real Industry Engineers
Welcome to the very first episode of the Real Industry Engineers Podcast.
In this introductory episode, I share the story behind why this podcast exists, what inspired me to start it, and what you can expect from the conversations ahead.
I talk about my journey from studying Electronic Engineering at the University of Pretoria in South Africa to building a career in industrial automation here in Australia — working across machine control, manufacturing systems, and large-scale industrial projects. I also share why becoming a Chartered Engineer shaped the way I think about professional growth. But more importantly, I explain the real reason this podcast was created:
The most valuable engineering lessons are rarely found in textbooks.
They live in stories.
In mistakes.
In pivots.
In late nights solving real problems.

Real Industry Engineers is a space for honest conversations about:
• Engineering career progression
• Technical challenges in industry
• Leadership, specialization, and career transitions
• The human side of engineering

Whether you are:
- An early-career engineer finding your footing
- A student preparing for industry
- An experienced engineer reflecting on your next chapter
- Or simply curious about what engineering really looks like beyond the job title
— this podcast is for you.
New episodes will be released fortnightly.
If you're an engineer with a story to share, I would love to hear from you.
Every engineer has a story worth telling.
